Adelaide Hills is home to some of purest and most desirable white wines like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris due to its unequivocally cool climate. Its high altitude is ideal for these elegant cool climate varieties where these grapes can retain excellent natural acidity.
The soils of Adelaide Hills are predominately grey to grey-brown loamy sands of low to moderate fertility. Most fall into the common south-east Australian family, and are well suited to viticulture.
Chardonnay is complex, elegant, taut, lean and invariably full of character. Sauvignon Blanc has strong tropical fruit flavor, cool crisp and bright climate of this region.
